Over the years, we have held over 20 workshops ranging from topics like basic introduction to electronics to Light Painting with MAX\/MSP and LED Tracking. We are always looking for people to lead technology based workshops. This workshop was a two-day intensive, hands-on workshop into the realm of building electronic circuits that interface with sensors. We focused on basic soldering, simple concepts of interactivity using the PIC16F84A microcontroller, MPLAB, and programming in PBASIC. This causes a rapid decrease in the value of existing electronics. Thus, the dark side of technological progress is the production of endless amounts of electronic waste: e-waste. Deconstructing established structures of cheap electronic devices into a performance tool is more than a lot of fun. An introduction to Arduino and Processing with some good old-fashioned hack-and-do fun.Participants added LEDs to helium balloons and learn how to control them using the Arduino platform together with the Processing programming environment to create an interactive light sculpture that responds to sound and music.Partly inspired by Electric Moons and LED Throwies.No electronics or programming skills required. Participants should however bring their own laptops (Windows, Mac OS X or Linux). The Hack-duino workshop invites participants to discover Arduino. Workshop open to ALL. The day combined, hands-on electronic and an initiation to fundamental of Hardware Hacking, the conception of an interactive installation, an overview of Max\/Msp\/Jitter and finally the conception\/shooting of video material for each projects. The goal is to realise a working prototype, by the end of the day, available to the public within the Irish Museum of Contemporary Art\u2019s exhibition space for the duration of the Darklight festival.No electronics or programming skills required.
